Processing Technician-Plastic Injection Molding
The Plastic Injection Molding Processing Technician is responsible for establishing, optimizing, and maintaining plastic injection molding processes to ensure consistent production of high-quality molded parts. This role focuses on process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while supporting production, quality, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities

Develop, set, and optimize plastic injection molding processes for new and existing molds

Establish process parameters including temperature, pressure, speed, clamp force, and cycle time

Perform mold start-ups, validations, and first-piece inspections

Troubleshoot molding defects such as flash, short shots, sinks, warp, burns, and cosmetic issues

Monitor and maintain process stability during production runs

Analyze process data and implement corrective actions to reduce scrap and downtime
-
Support mold trials, material trials, and process improvement initiatives

Collaborate with tooling, engineering, quality, and maintenance departments
-
Create and maintain process documentation, setup sheets, and change logs
-
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (ISO, IATF, FDA, GMP as applicable)

Train and support molding operators as needed
Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or plastics certification preferred

3+ years of plastic injection molding processing experience preferred

Strong understanding of thermoplastics, mold design, and molding theory

Experience with scientific molding and process validation is a plus

Ability to read blueprints, part drawings, and process documentation

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
