Plastics Molding Setup Technician
The Injection Molding Set-Up Technician is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting injection molding machines and related auxiliary equipment to ensure efficient production of high-quality molded parts. This role supports production by maintaining process consistency, minimizing downtime, and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

Set up and change over injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment (robots, dryers, conveyors, chillers, etc.)

Install, align, and secure molds; connect water, air, hydraulic, and electrical lines

Load and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, clamp force)

Perform start-ups and first-piece inspections to verify quality and specifications

Troubleshoot molding, tooling, and process issues to minimize scrap and downtime
-
Make process adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency

Monitor machine performance and document process parameters

Perform routine preventive maintenance on molds and equipment
-
Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies

Communicate issues and improvements with supervisors, engineers, and operators

Maintain clean and organized work areas (5S)
Qualifications and Skills
-
High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred

2+ years of experience in injection molding setup or processing (preferred)

Strong understanding of plastic materials, mold functions, and molding processes

Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation

Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills

Experience with quality inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

Forklift and crane operation experience a plus

Ability to work independently and in a team environment
