Metal Plater
A local manufacturing facility is seeking a Metal Plater (also known as a Plating Technician or Metal Finisher) to join their production team. The Metal Plater is responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to metal parts to improve durability, appearance, and corrosion resistance. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Surface Preparation

Clean and prepare metal surfaces by removing dirt, rust, oils, and contaminants using polishing, cleaning, or chemical treatments.

Inspect surfaces for defects and determine if repair or rework is necessary.

Mask or cover designated areas to prevent plating in unwanted sections.
Plating Processes

Select proper plating materials, chemicals, and techniques according to specifications and desired finishes.

Operate plating equipment (tanks, racks, and power supplies) to apply coatings evenly and consistently.

Monitor process variables (temperature, voltage, current, immersion time) to maintain quality and adhesion standards.

Verify plating thickness and finish meet customer and production requirements.
Safety and Compliance

Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals and waste in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Maintain adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety/environmental standards.
Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine cleaning and calibration of plating equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.

Troubleshoot and report malfunctions promptly for maintenance or repair.
Qualifications and Skills

Prior experience in metal plating, finishing, or a related industrial role preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot plating issues.

Effective teamwork and communication skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and ability to lift/move heavy materials as needed.
