Machinist Department Supervisor
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Department Supervisor to lead our Secondary Wire Forming, Benchwork, and Machining operations. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to train and mentor a technical team. The Supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensure safe and efficient equipment use, and help drive consistent, high-quality production output.
Responsibilities

Supervise and support all activities within the Secondary Wire Forming, Benchwork, and Machine Shop departments.

Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide range of manual and CNC equipment.

Provide hands-on training, coaching, and skill development for team members.

Ensure safe work practices, proper use of tooling and fixtures, and adherence to all company quality standards.

Coordinating scheduling and priorities with other departments leads to maintain smooth production flow.

Communicate daily with Engineering to review workloads, lead times, and upcoming projects.

Support accurate quoting efforts by providing technical insight on process requirements and timing.

Monitor productivity, address operational issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Lead by example, demonstrating strong work ethic, technical expertise, and a commitment to team success.
Qualifications and Skills

Proven experience as a machinist, toolmaker, or in a comparable technical manufacturing role.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes.

Experience with manual and CNC machines, setups, tooling, and precision measurement equipment.

Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
