Local CDL-B Driver
A Local CDL-B Driver is responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to transport goods and materials within a specific geographic area. They typically work in a local or regional capacity, making deliveries or pick-ups within a designated radius of their home base. The Local CDL-B Driver ensures the safe and efficient transportation of cargo while complying with traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
Responsibilities

Operate a CMV with a Class B CDL, adhering to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.

Practice defensive driving techniques and maintain a strong focus on safety at all times.

Comply with hours-of-service regulations and manage driving and rest times effectively.

Transport goods or materials to designated locations within the assigned local area.

Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring proper securing of the load.

Verify the accuracy of delivery documents, such as bills of lading or delivery orders, and obtain necessary signatures or confirmations.

Communicate with dispatch or supervisors regarding delivery schedules, delays, or any issues encountered during transportation.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation, such as driver logs, mileage records, and delivery receipts.

Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and vehicle maintenance.
Qualifications and Skills

Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.

Clean driving record and adherence to all traffic laws and regulations.

Proven experience as a CDL-B driver, preferably in a local delivery or pick-up capacity.

Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.

Familiarity with the local area and ability to navigate using maps or GPS devices.

Excellent driving skills and a commitment to safety.
