General Labor
A General Labor is responsible for efficiently organizing, stacking, and maintaining product within the company. The primary objective is to ensure the safe storage and accessibility of materials, contributing to a smooth workflow for customers and fellow employees.
Responsibilities

Stacking and organizing: Carefully stack and organize product. Ensure materials are stable, well-aligned, and properly spaced to prevent damage and allow for easy travel.

Material inspection: Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for quality, damage, and proper labeling. Report any discrepancies, defects, or irregularities to the supervisor.

Inventory management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by tracking the quantities and types of materials in the facility. Collaborate with inventory control personnel to conduct regular counts and updates.

Customer service: Assist customers and contractors in locating and loading materials. Provide courteous and helpful service, answering questions, offering recommendations, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Utilize proper lifting techniques, wear personal protective equipment, and promptly report any safety concerns or incidents.

Equipment operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handing equipment to move and position lumber stacks. Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any malfunction or maintenance needs.

Facility maintenance: Keep the facility clean and organized by sweeping, removing debris, and arranging materials. Assist with seasonal yard maintenance tasks such as snow removal and drainage upkeep.

Team collaboration: Work closely with other company staff, drivers, sales associates, and management to ensure effective communication and coordination of tasks. Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.

Loading and unloading: Assist with loading and unloading materials from delivery trucks, verifying quantities, and inspecting products for damage. Safely secure materials for transportation.

Adhere to regulations: Comply with environmental regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to product storage, handling, and disposal.
Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a construction environment.

Forklift operation certification is a plus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials repeatedly.

Effective communication and customer service skills.

Basic math skills for inventory tracking and order fulfilment.

Safety-conscious mindset and adherence to safety protocols.

Ability to work in various weather conditions.
