CNC Swiss Lathe Setup Machinist
We are seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Lathe Setup Machinist to set up, program-adjust, and operate CNC Swiss-style lathes in a precision manufacturing environment. This position focuses on producing high-quality, tight-tolerance components from a variety of materials while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong Swiss lathe setup experience, the ability to troubleshoot machining processes, and a solid understanding of precision machining techniques.
Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC Swiss-style lathes to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications

Perform complete machine setups including tooling installation, guide bushing setup, offsets, program adjustments, and first-piece inspections

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T to ensure accurate production

Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and cycle time efficiency

Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs at the machine to optimize performance and minimize downtime

Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, and other quality instruments

Perform tool changes and monitor tool wear to maintain consistent product quality

Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and machining issues to reduce scrap and improve productivity

Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently

Maintain accurate production and inspection records as required

Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet customer specifications and delivery schedules

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications and Skills
-
Previous experience as a CNC Swiss Lathe Setup Machinist, Swiss Machine Operator, CNC Machinist, or similar role

Strong experience setting up and operating CNC Swiss-style lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Hanwha, or similar)

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T

Experience working with precision machined components and maintaining tight tolerances

Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges

Experience editing CNC programs and adjusting offsets as needed

Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude

Understanding of tooling selection, tool wear compensation, and machining best practices

Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Knowledge of Swiss machining processes and multi-axis CNC equipment preferred

Pay Rate: $20+ per hour DOE
